Buy one get one free is the largest single discount Chipotle hands out. On two chicken entrees at
$9.79 each, a BOGO saves the full $9.79, which is more
than any promo code on this site has offered in the past two years. On two steak entrees at
$11.68 it saves $11.68. The rule of thumb is straightforward:
when a BOGO lands, order the most expensive protein you actually want, because the free entree is matched to the
cheaper of the two on most editions.
The catch is notice. Chipotle announces almost every BOGO two or three days ahead, and several arrive with no
public announcement at all because they are dropped into individual Rewards accounts. That means a BOGO cannot
be planned for the way a coupon can. What can be planned for is the calendar, because three of the five routes
land on dates that do not move.

How to be ready when one drops
Because the notice period is short, the preparation happens before the offer exists. Four settings decide whether
you hear about a BOGO in time to use it.
Push notifications on the Chipotle app are the first and most important. Targeted BOGO drops appear in the
Rewards tab and are announced by push rather than email, and the redemption window on those drops is often a
single day. Marketing emails are the second, because campaign wide events such as the back to school run are
announced by email a day or two ahead. Third, keep a saved delivery address and a saved payment method on the
account, since several BOGO editions have run as digital only offers with a same day expiry. Fourth, know your
nearest store hours, because in restaurant editions such as Veterans Day run inside a four hour evening window.
Targeted BOGO drops are driven by ordering history. Accounts that have gone quiet receive
win back offers more often than accounts that order weekly. That is an uncomfortable truth for regulars, and
it is also why a lapsed account is worth keeping rather than deleting.
The Veterans Day edition in detail
This is the most consistent BOGO on the Chipotle calendar and the one with the tightest rules. It runs on 11
November, in restaurant only, with military identification shown at the register. The 2025 edition operated from
4pm to 8pm local time. Digital orders were excluded, which catches people out every year because the app is
where most Chipotle discounting lives.
The offer is one free entree with the purchase of another. Both are made at the line, so protein choice is open
on each. Given the $1.89 gap between chicken and steak
pricing, ordering steak on the paid entree returns the most value. Full detail on eligibility sits on the
military discount page, including what Chipotle does not offer the
rest of the year.
What BOGO is not
Codes reading BOGO circulate constantly on deal boards and almost never work. Chipotle does not issue a standing
buy one get one code, and a public code that grants a free entree with no cap would be trivially abused. When a
BOGO runs as a code, the code is unique per account and arrives inside the app.
Marketplace apps run their own buy one get one promotions on Chipotle listings, and those are real, but they
discount a marked up menu. A BOGO on DoorDash pricing can land close to the plain in store price for two
entrees, so it is worth checking the totals rather than the badge. The
delivery page prices that gap in full.
BOGO and Free Entrees: questions people ask
When does Chipotle do buy one get one free?
The repeating dates are Veterans Day on 11 November for military members in restaurant, the back to school run in late summer, and Halloween, where the format shifts year to year. Chipotle also drops targeted BOGO offers into individual Rewards accounts with no public announcement at all.
