Why the app has offers the web does not

Chipotle has said nearly 90 percent of its digital transactions are linked to a Rewards account, against roughly 20 percent of in restaurant transactions. When the company wants to move behaviour, the app is where it can address one customer at a time rather than everybody at once. That is the whole reason public promo codes have thinned out and app offers have grown.

The practical consequence is that the best Chipotle offers cannot be found by searching for them. They arrive in an account, they are selected by ordering history, and they cannot be shared because they are bound to the member rather than to a code. Every list of Chipotle promo codes on the internet is looking at the leftovers.

App exclusive

Six things that only happen inside the app

None of these has a public code, and none of them can be found on a coupon site.

What it is Where it appears Why it matters
Freepotle monthly drop Rewards tab Free food deposited every month since the April 2026 relaunch. Some drops need a qualifying purchase of about $5
Targeted offers Rewards tab Personalised discounts driven by ordering history. Never published publicly and cannot be shared
Bonus point days Push notification Multiplier days that lift the standard 10 points per dollar during campaigns such as Summer of Extras
Rewards Exchange Rewards tab Half price entrees, group Build Your Own options and bundled meals at lower point thresholds
Early menu access Menu screen New items open to members before general release, which is also when the largest offers appear
App only games Campaign banner The Burrito Vault for National Burrito Day carried more than $2 million in prizes in 2026
Setup

Four settings that decide whether offers reach you

Most people who say the app never gives them anything have one of these switched off.

1

Push notifications on

Targeted drops are announced by push and several carry a same day expiry. This is the single setting that decides whether you catch anything.

2

Marketing email on

Campaign wide events such as the back to school buy one get one days are announced by email a day or two ahead.

3

Birth date saved

Has to be on the account before your birthday month starts for the reward to trigger at all.

4

A saved payment method

Several offers run as digital only with a short window, and an unfinished checkout is the usual reason people miss them.

How targeting actually decides who gets what

Offers are driven by ordering behaviour rather than by loyalty in the sentimental sense. Accounts that have gone quiet receive win back offers more often than accounts ordering weekly, because the discount is being spent to change a behaviour rather than to reward one. This is uncomfortable for regulars and it is how every large loyalty program works.

The practical reading is that a lapsed account is worth keeping rather than deleting, and that points now survive 365 days of inactivity rather than the previous six months. A balance built two years ago and left alone is probably still there, and the account attached to it is probably now in the win back segment.

Scan before you pay, not after. In restaurant, the app has to be scanned before payment is taken. A receipt cannot be added to the account afterwards, which is the main reason in store Rewards attachment sits near 20 percent while digital sits near 90.

App ordering against web ordering

Both earn points at 10 per dollar and both accept public promo codes at checkout. The difference is that account offers, Freepotle drops and Rewards Exchange listings surface in the app first and are easier to redeem there. The web checkout carries the promo field under the order summary, above payment, while the app hides it in the totals block behind the bag icon.

Where the app clearly wins is speed on a short window offer. A same day drop that expires at midnight is realistically only usable if the notification arrives on a phone that can complete the order in four taps. The redemption guide maps every checkout screen.

What the app cannot do

It cannot stack two offers. One promotional slot exists per order in the United States, and a redeemed reward occupies it exactly like a promo code would. It cannot apply a marketplace promotion, since DoorDash and Uber Eats process their own orders and those earn no Chipotle points at all. And it cannot retroactively add a missed order, which is why the scanning habit matters.

It also cannot make delivery cheap. Chipotle sets a higher menu for delivery orders at most locations, so app delivery still costs more than app pickup even with the fee waived. The delivery page prices every channel side by side, and pickup on the app at $9.79 for a chicken entree remains the floor.

App Only Offers: questions people ask

Does the Chipotle app have deals the website does not?

Yes. Targeted offers, Freepotle drops and bonus point days land in the Rewards account and surface in the app first. Chipotle has said nearly 90 percent of its digital transactions are linked to Rewards, so that is where the discounting effort goes.

The homepage keeps all of them together, bucketed by how reliable each one is and priced against the real menu.
